Hello, I’m Wais Azami

I’m an experienced criminal defense attorney based in Garden Grove, California. Wais is pronounced with a long “i” like ‘ice’ but with a ‘W’ at the beginning. I serve most of SoCal communities.

Path to Legal Career

My path to becoming a lawyer was anything but routine. Having endured immigration, culture shock, language barriers, poverty, life-threatening medical procedures, different career fields, divorce and almost every other obstacle you can imagine, I am in a better position to be able to understand your predicament.

Previous Careers

Before becoming an attorney, I had several careers. They all centered around one goal; to help improve my community. I have taught from middle school to adult education, assisted families in childcare resource and referral agencies, and ran my own real estate brokerage to help first-time home buyers.

Switching to Law

However, nothing fits my character better than being an attorney. I had wanted to become an attorney since 8th grade, but I pushed the idea away for a long time. Several years ago, the hypocrisy of telling my students to never stop until they’ve achieved their dream career felt overwhelming. Thus, at the age of 40, I dropped everything to attend law school.

Satisfied Clients

Those obstacles and experiences have made me a better attorney. Today, I am one of the top Orange County criminal defense attorneys, because I understand my clients. Recently, I have included personal injury to my practice due to demand from friends, family and the same satisfied clients. Whether my clients are facing heavy criminal charges or they have been given the runaround by large insurance companies after an injury, I’ll bring the type of zealous advocacy needed.

I’m motivated by fighting for the underdog while protecting their rights. I know that freedom is best achieved by a strong community with Constitutional rights.

Community Involvement

Community is everything to me. I continue to find time for teaching in various ways. I recently accepted 4 Garden Grove Unified School District interns interested in the field of criminal justice. I am so proud of them for starting in the right trajectory at an early age.

In the past, I have assisted congenital cardiac patients as a camp counselor at Camp Del Corazon. For several years, I made sure children with heart conditions didn’t feel handicapped as I focussed on helping them realize their capabilities, rather than focusing on their limitations.

Things To Consider When Looking for an Attorney

If you are facing serious charges, I am prepared to tirelessly fight for you. I don’t judge. I just go to war, because it’s your right.

And don’t fall for ads stating “cheap criminal lawyers” because a cheap criminal lawyer is not an affordable criminal lawyer. You can’t afford to make the wrong decision. While my fees are very fair, I won’t sell my clients short. Often times I get called by potential clients who want to change their attorney in the middle of a case because they are not getting any progress. However, it’s hard to change outcomes when the foundation has been set improperly by a previous attorney.
